Apparition

My girlfriend gave me the advice to shot some startrails tonight.(Awesome :) ) So I packed my things and walked just 10 minutes to reach this tree. I used a MAG-LITE to get a more interesting foreground. This seems to be my first serious result. I hope you like it! This shot contains of 22 images

Update info: Brighter foreground

Nice. The fore ground looks great, a lovely focal point. The stars look great spiralling out from the edge. I am due to attempt a similar shoot soon myself, but I'm slightly nervous of the out come. Never really played with long exposure... I'm guessing a closed shutter and a general timing??

thanks much appreciated... you need a cable release with and interval function, thats the simplest way to do it... also small aperture and higher iso... 400-1600 depending on the situation... and I guess a tripod is self explanatory :P

Ah, I was unaware you could get a cable release with an interval function, I'll shop around for one. Thanks for the feedback :)

A Lumix G3, really struggled deciding between that or a Cannon..felt the mould needed breaking, not sure it was the right choice... :s but I dunno :p

Oh no, I meant the star trails haha :P How long do you need to wait in between each shot to get a good effect??
Reply
:iconjanpusdrowski:
JanPusdrowski Featured By Owner Feb 8, 2012  Student Photographer
Don't wait between the shots..! That would causes gaps in the trails... you get the best results with a break of 5sec between the shots(just to avoid your sensor of getting to hot) an cable release with interval function is really highly recommended.
